The brief description of the tour
The main part of the route begins from the furcaton of the roads near the turning to the Adyl-Su Gorge. The altitude is 1,800 meters. Then walk 7 km to the farmyards’ glade. The first 2,5 km go along the road leading to the southeast along the Adyl-Su Gorge till the climbers’ camp “Shkhelda” leaving the climbers’ camp “Adyl-Su”, the climbers’ cemetery, the winter training slope of the climbers’ camp “Adyl-Su”. There is the place of the rest. In the right of the road there is the Yusengi Range, in the left-the Kurmy Range and directly – the gorges of the Great Caucasian Range. The ranges Kurmy and Yusengi are the spurs of the Great Caucasian Range.
The road lies on the left bank of the river Adyl-Su. Go round the climbers’ camp “Shkhelda” along the road. And then to the left of the bridge the next rest place is. Then cross the river Shkhelda that is the left tributary of the Adyl-Su River over the bridge and go further along the road turning to the east. The Shkhelda Gorge goes away to the south. Then the road crosses the Adyl-Su River over the bridge and further goes over the right slopes of the Kurmy Gorge (over the south slopes of the Kurmy Range). On the right of the motion direction you can see the Adyl-Su River and the Great Caucasian Range with its short northern spurs. The climbers’ camp “Elbrus” is situated on the left bank of the river Adyl-Su. In 5 km from the furcation it comes to the climbers’ camp: Dgan-Tugan”. Leaving the climbers’ camp go along the road to the farmyards’ glade. The road finishes on the glade. After the camping breakfast the group returns along the ascent line.
