The brief description of the tour

The Tegenekli Range is the east spur of the Mount Elbrus. Its length is 15 km. The range finishes near the vil. Elbrus by the large grassy shoulder named Buka-Bashi. Its altitude is 2,433 meters. From the Tegenekli range slopes you can see the views of the gorges, summits, ranges and passes.

The route begins from the vil. Tegenekli which altitude is 1,850 meters. From the shop go north, cross the river Baksan over the bridge leaving the village to the foothills of the Tegenekli Range. From here the path begins going up and to the right to the pasture. Go along this path. At the foothills of the range the path goes across the barber bushes leaving on the left of the motion direction the rocks. In a one hour walking the path disappears in the grasslands. Go up without the path over the alpine grasslands leaving to the right the pines lonely growing.

After the two-hour walking from the ascent beginning you come to the range. Go along the range the distance of 200-300 meters to the right to its end. In this place on the summit Buka-Bashi the triangulation point is set up.

From the summit Buka-Bashi traverse the south slope of the Tegenekli Range not loosing the altitude. Go west over the alpine grasslands using the sheep paths. The route is crossing two small gorges: The Bezymyanoe and Koisurulgen.

The Koisurulgen Gorge goes down to the village Baidaevka. Crossing this gorge descend without the path over the grassy slope lower than waterfall. From here the path begins again. The path smoothly goes down. After the 3 or 4 hours of the descent you come up to the Itkol Glade.

The whole route taking in account the 8 hours route is recommended for the middle-experienced and high-experienced groups.

If the weather becomes worse after the crossing the Koisurulgen Gorge it is necessary to go down to the vil. Baidaevka to the highway.

No going out to the route without visibility and when it is raining.
