The first part of the trip is described here — Baksan canyon
The waterfall Devichi Kosy (Maiden’s Braids) in the Elbrus region is one of the most famous and most visited by tourists places, located at an altitude of 2800 m on the slope of Terskol peak. You will see graceful and transparent jets of a thirty-meter stream descending through the gutters under pressure from the Gara-Bashi glacier. The waterfall is framed by basalt rocks. There is such a strong noise near the source that it simply will not work to talk and hear the interlocutor! In summer, the water is very warm, you can even take water procedures. From here it is not far to get to the international observatory called «Peak Terskol».
Here you are left alone with nature, and on the hill you can see the panorama of the royal peaks that the Caucasus is famous for. Landscapes open on the slope of the mountains are stunning and bewitching! And the Maiden’s Braids waterfall itself is one of the wonders of Russia!
We leave for Terskol village from Nalchik early in the morning.
Ahead of us is an exciting trekking in the Terskol gorge, we will get to the waterfalls, can go to the real Meteorological Station and reach the Maiden Spit waterfall. We will walk to the waterfall in 3 hours, then another hour to the Meteorological Station and an hour to the last waterfall.
The route is not difficult, it does not require special preparation, you only need strength for the hike and a good mood. Of course, you need to be careful and listen to the accompanying guide throughout the entire route, move along strictly designated places. At the end of the route, tourists are in for a surprise, in the form of a stop in a colorful house for lunch, with an amazingly beautiful view of the Terskol Gorge.
After lunch we descend back to the village and go back to Nalchik.
