Mountainous Ingushetia is a breathtaking place!
A place that delights and surprises! Having been here, it seems that no one will remain indifferent!
Ingushetia is an extraordinarily beautiful republic. These are landscapes of unusual beauty, mineral springs, the purest waters of mountain rivers. And above all this rises the Caucasus Range with its eternal snows. The pearl of Ingushetia is rightfully the Dzheyrakhsky gorge. It is essentially an open-air museum. There are 92 historical monuments here. Including the famous Ingush battle towers. Some architectural structures date back to the second millennium BC, and the unique natural and climatic conditions undoubtedly put Dzheyrakh on a par with such famous Caucasian resorts as Dombay and Elbrus. Fans of ecological tourism and outdoor recreation come here every year.
Jeirakh Gorge
The Armkhi Valley, which has a direction from east to west, is illuminated by the sun for an unusually long time, not only in summer, but also in winter.
Mount Tsey-Loam
Mount Tsey-Loam (according to local legends, this is the Throne Mountain of the god Sela) — 3171 m.
The sacred mountain Tsey-Loam is often hidden by fog or shrouded in clouds — this gives it a mysterious gloom and an ominous appearance.
city Aegikal
Medieval tower city of Aegikal. This is one of the largest tower complexes on the territory of Mountainous Ingushetia, consisting of a classic Ingush combat tower and more than 60 ruined semi-combat and residential tower structures.
It is located on high crests of slate rocks in the gorge of the Guloy-khi River and consists of two separate castles, once connected by a suspension bridge.
Temple Thaba-Erdy
The Thaba-Erdy temple (VIII century) is one of the oldest in Russia and the most mysterious monument of history, architecture and religious cult of the ancient inhabitants of the mountainous Ingushetia.
Memorial in Nazran
Memorial of Memory and Glory in Ingushetia.
The center of the memorial composition is a building of nine traditional watchtowers, symbolically entangled with barbed wire. It houses the exposition of the museum of victims of political repression. The number of towers is not accidental. Nine is the number of deported nations. The memorial is dedicated to two topics — the participation of the Ingush people in the Great World War 2 and the deportation of the Ingush people in 1944. The complex impresses with its scale, well-groomedness and variety of monuments.
On the territory of the memorial, there is an impressive equestrian monument to the Ingush Regiment of the Wild Division, a monument to Lieutenant Umatgirey Artaganovich Barkhanoev, a steam locomotive with a wagon (this was the one in which the deportation was carried out), as well as a military exposition.
Tower in Magas
Our next stop is the city of Magas in Republic Ingushetia. Its visiting card is the Tower of Concord — the highest observation tower in the North Caucasus. It was erected in the style of a medieval Ingush tower enlarged four times. Height — 100 meters.
According to legend, in ancient times, the tallest “Tower of the Country” stood on the site of the modern tower, which was a symbol of freedom for the inhabitants of the ancient settlement. The enemies who attacked the village destroyed everything alive and completely dismantled the tower. Tradition says that only the people, united by a single spirit of creation and a common goal, will be able to build a new tower on the same place higher than the previous one.
At an altitude of 85 m, there is an observation deck with a stunning panorama. Visiting it is an extraordinary feeling: the platform is completely made of glass — both the floor and the stained-glass windows. It feels like you’re floating in the air.
