Tour program

1

Departure

Departure from Nalchik. Having reached by 4 wheel car along the picturesque serpentine to the middle part of the gorge Kara-su, the route continues on foot along the path and leads to the high-altitude lake Tatapastauat (Grandfather’s Lake in Balkarian).
2

Start of Hike

On the way, we are surrounded on all sides by the mighty snowy peaks of the Main Caucasian Range to the south and the Sugan mountain range from the north. Along the way there will be several easy crossings through mountain rivers.
3

Lake Tatapastauat

We have lunch on the lake, those who wish can bathe in the purest water, after which we return to the car and go down the road to the narzan spring, the composition of which is favorable for the cardiovascular system and digestion. Then we will head to the nearby river gorge, which people humorously call «Washing Machine». Few places where can be seen such a violent flow of water!

Having looked, and even a little frightened, this natural phenomenon, we go further to the Musuk-Su waterfall, which rushes along the rocks in beautiful braids to the crystal lake-bowl at its base. Here you can settle down for a rest with tea drinking and admiring the wild gorge of Herta adjoining on the other side. We drink tea, and we go to the next majestic waterfall — Zerkli-Su, or Alder in Russian.

Return to Nalchik

After a short journey through the forest, we will see a rocky couloir with a powerful stream cascading down. After we leave for Nalchik.
